IRA EDUARDOVNA (US/RU): THE ROOM [00:48 min, 2007]
A spread of a rectangle hotel room is presented. A female figure (myself) draws an outline on the floor. The action is shot in five times, every time from a different angle that correlates with the spread.
This repetition of the same “choreography” creates slight changes that are almost invisible, yet the time factor influences the experience and the action becomes automatic and irrational.
The window at the back shows a scenery view from a train ride which transforms the hotel room into a train cart. Eventually the female figure stands in the middle of a room and her shadow matches the outline form that is drawn on the floor.
IRA EDUARDOVNA (b. 1980) grew up in the Soviet Union, from where she immigrated to Israel in the early 90’s. This experience significantly influenced her work. In 2004 she graduated from the Holon Academy Institute of Technology’s experimental department of Arts and Design. Immediately after her graduation, she went on a two-year journey in the United States and Europe. During that period she reached new levels of achievement trough exploring and researching herself and her surroundings. Returning Israel, she started teaching photography and video in the Design department of Holon Academic Institute of Technology, and in EPS College of Graphic Design in Tel Aviv. > Eduardovna’s work has been showing internationally at group exhibitions and art festivals. She lives and works in Los Angeles.
