A breathless body, articulated through a surgical dissection of time. Like a collection of fragments, a being grown increasingly fractured – likely as it searches for itself, for the moments it is made of. Then the intensity of the cry, until the pain is exhausted. An act of desperation, pulverized, until man finally becomes machine, a mechanical monster. And yet, the universe stays put.

Holding a diploma in drums for jazz interpretation, Martin Messier has completed a bachelor’s degree in electroacoustic composition at the University of Montreal, and De Montfort University in England. His curiosity for graphic arts has brought him to explore the relationship between sound and image, in which he discovered video-music and digital motion graphics. Based on strong aptitudes for rhythm, Martin’s esthetic can be defined as a complex, left field and happily strange sound amalgam, constantly playing with construction and deconstruction.

Perte de Signal is a non-profit organization that contributes to the dissemination of emerging digital artists and culture on the national and international scenes. Its principal activities are the distribution of the work of innovative artists and the production of media arts projects.
Cartes Centre of Art and Technology Espoo operates mainly within the fields of electronic and media art, aural and visual. The role of Cartes is critically productive, by presenting site specific projects as well as ‘traveling’ productions it strives to challenge interdisciplinary encounters between the many actors of culture and technology. The Foundation of Art and Technology, Espoo, that governs Cartes was established in 1989 by the City of Espoo, Helsinki University of Technology and Sibelius Academy.
